Drill Press TB 14/5

Hole Making Operations

Spindle & Quill
The rotating shaft (spindle) is housed inside the quill. The quill moves up and down via the feed handle, allowing the rotating drill bit to plunge into the workpiece.
Chuck
A specialized clamp attached to the spindle that holds the drill bit securely. It is tightened using a chuck key.
Work Table
The surface where the workpiece rests. It can be adjusted vertically along the column to accommodate different sizes of material and can often be tilted or rotated.
Column
The sturdy vertical pillar that connects the base to the head. It provides a rigid track for adjusting the height of the work table.
Belt Drive System
Located in the top housing, a system of stepped pulleys and a V-belt transfers power from the motor to the spindle. Changing the belt position alters the spindle speed.
Base
The heavy foundation of the machine, usually made of cast iron. It secures the drill press to the floor or workbench and provides stability during operation.
